About the event

Directed by Sarah Doyle

Hilarious and touching, this classic and beloved play about six women is set in a beauty parlour in Louisiana. Through four scenes spanning three years the staff and customers engage in small-town gossip but we see a deep strength and purposefulness emerge when tragedies and dramas are overcome. As the title suggests, the female characters are as delicate as magnolias but as tough as steel.

The entire play takes place in the late 1980s, at Truvy's in-home beauty parlor in the fictional northwestern Louisiana parish of Chinquapin, where a group of women regularly gather.

This amateur production is presented by arrangement with Concord Theatricals Ltd on behalf of Samuel French Ltd.
