Players Youth will continue to meet once a week between 7 pm. and 9 pm. on Tuesdays (except during non-term time, and the weeks of an adult production) at Players Theatre. We develop young performers' skills through two processes. Twice a year we are involved in intensive rehearsals on two full-scale productions, and the rest of the time is devoted to shaping and developing practical stagecraft skills in a workshop environment.
The group is open to anyone between 11 and 18 who has a passion for, and interest in acting and the theatre in general. Some members have diversified their skills and learned more about lighting, sound, costume etc. Many members also progress into substantial roles in adult production. At the end of each season in July we also present the Youth Shield to the member that we feel has made the most consistent contribution to the work.
